ATHENS the Khateebs (preachers) during Eid-ul-Adha prayers in Egypt on Tuesday welcomed improvement of ties between Egypt and Iran and Egypt and Sudan which could lead to normalization of Egypt's ties with the two Muslim countries, Cairo daily Al-Ahrar reported. In a front-page report in its issue of Wednesday, the paper said there was people's support for ties with Iran and Sudan. The preachers denounced American and Western support to the Zionist state and called for an Arab-Islamic alliance to confront enemies of Islam. Millions of Egyptian Muslims offered Eid-al-Adha (feast of sacrifice) prayers in open ground and in mosques all over the country.
The preachers lamented that the Muslim ummah had become weak and humiliated because it was not obeying the Islamic Sharia resulting in exploitation of Muslims by the West. They also underlined the necessity to unite the Arab-Islamic ranks and to work in order to liberate the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Zionist occupation. (IRNA)
